Why anti-racist practice is important in the early years

Friday, February 3, 2023 13:30 - 14:30

As children are developing their sense of self and beginning to understand the people in the communities around them it is our job to help them to do this positively. We need to acknowledge that the wider structural and systemic effects of racism impact children of the global majority disproportionately. This talk will highlight the importance of embedding an anti-racist approach throughout all elements of early years practice.

Key takeaways:

  • How do we examinine our existing early years guidance through an anti-racist lens?
  • How do we scaffold conversations about race with children?
  • How do we effectively use resources to help us do this?
